Using DxQSO with Ham Radio Deluxe
Ham Radio Deluxe has been a fixture of the hobby for a long time, and a great many operators run their whole station from it. Keep doing that. DxQSO is not a logging program and has no ambition to become one.
There is one genuine wrinkle worth being straight about, and it concerns LoTW certificates.
The certificate question, honestly
TQSL can sign your log in two ways. Most logging programs use single-step sign and upload, where TQSL signs the contacts and sends them to LoTW in one action. Ham Radio Deluxe uses the two-step form: it asks TQSL to produce a signed file, which HRD then uploads itself.
That difference matters because producing a signed file is the whole job — it requires a callsign certificate. So where operators on single-step loggers can reach LoTW through DX-TQSL with no certificate at all, HRD's route still needs one. We would rather say that plainly than let you discover it.
Single-step signing in Ham Radio Deluxe would remove this difference. Until then, HRD operators need a callsign certificate for the LoTW leg.
How your log reaches DxQSO
None of the above affects getting your log into DxQSO, which is the easy part.
- Through LoTW and QRZ. HRD already uploads. DxQSO connects to the same accounts and reads the confirmations back.
- By ADIF. Export from HRD, upload to DxQSO.
- Through the public API for a direct path.
What you get
Your logbook on your phone, confirmation alerts that reach you away from the shack, award tracking across DXCC, WAS, VUCC, the CQ awards and the Marathon, and club standings on DxSocial.
What DxQSO does not do
- It is not a logging program. There is no contest keyer, no rig control, no macros. Log where you log.
- It does not need to sit between you and LoTW. Upload however you already upload; DxQSO reads the results.
- It does not merge your confirmation sources. LoTW and QRZ are kept as two labeled sets, because ARRL awards accept one of them and not the other.
Common questions
Do I have to change how I log?
No. That is the whole point.
Does DxQSO upload to LoTW for me?
It does not need to. If you would like an easier path to LoTW, that is what DX-TQSL is for.
Is there a free tier?
