DxQSO to the rescue!
It happened. Even before we go live with our first production release, DxQSO has saved my log!
Last night I was working 40M FT8 for a few hours. I had racked up about 62 Qs when I decided to wrap it up. I had a great evening with WSJTX, Grid Tracker, SDR Control and my logbook app. Yes, I do use several different logbook and rig control apps.
I was getting the DxQSO alerts on my phone as new QSOs were logged into my logbook. It was all working seamlessly. I was screen recording my iPhone and drilling down on the phone into my DxQSO cloud logbook data. It was very cool.
After winding down my FT8 contacts and checking to see if I had any stragglers calling, I decided to pull my LoTW confirmations down into my logbook app. Since I was pulling QSLs for all time, I was not terribly concerned when I got an error from the logbook app indicating a few mismatches.
However, it continued to repeat the errors even though I had only requested the confirmations only once. It appeared to have difficulty writing the LoTW QSLs to my log. So in standard technical support fashion, I decided to close the app and start over (i.e. app reboot).
After doing that, I did not get the error any more but guess what? All of my 62 contact records were gone!
After a brief flash of “Oh Crap!”, I realized that I was also using DxQSO which was backing up each new QSO record. So I went to the DxQSO website and downloaded my logbook for the day.
I imported the log file (62 Qs) into my PC logbook app and instantly had all of my data fully restored.
Phew! All was good and it took me only 5 minutes to recover. It was, I admit, a little validating after all the work we have done to bring DxQSO to life.
